A highly detailed chart of the San Francisco Bay extending from the city of San Francisco north to the Marin Headlands and east to Oakland. Includes comprehensive navigational information in the vicinity including buoys, light houses, numerous soundings, and bottom types. The chart also features excellent detail on land including the street grid pattern of San Francisco, Oakland, and the varied topography of the area. Includes the stamp of "Dillon & Co. Agent for U.S. Government Charts…" adjacent to the title, and another stamp in the bottom margin indicates the chart has been revised as of May 11, 1894. Since this chart was updated periodically and use of out of date copies could be risky, surviving copies appear to be scarce.

References: cf. Rumsey #3480 (1905 edition).

Overall light toning with a 5" edge tear at left that has been closed on verso with archival tape. There are some faint stains along the left border and minor edge chips and tears all confined to the blank margins.
