This handsome miniature map of the continent appeared in Geographie Universelle, a fascinating French geography book that was first published in 1715 by Giffard, and was republished multiple times until 1805. It features place names, rivers, and mountain ranges. North of Coree is a large, peninsular Terre de Yeco (Hokkaido). Off the coast of the peninsula is an incomplete coastline labeled Terre de la Compagnie. Novaya Zemlya appears as a partial coastline, and the Caspian Sea is depicted in an unusually swollen configuration. There is a decorative title cartouche at top left and a distance scale at top right.
