Decorative map of the Spanish region of Catalonia that covers the Mediterranean coastline from the French border via Barcelona to Tortosa. The splendid, allegorical cartouche at right shows Perseus about to decapitate the fearsome Medusa, and a figure representing Catalonia is kneeling before a monarch, to illustrate the surrender of Catalonia to Felipe V of Spain during the War of the Spanish Succession.

Condition: B+

A sharp impression on a bright sheet with contemporary color in the map and later color in the cartouche. There is a faint damp stain along the centerfold at top, an old manuscript ink stain at left, an the bottom margin has been extended to accommodate framing.
