A. U.S. Iana (1650-1950) - A Selective Bibliography in Which Are Described 11,620 Uncommon and Significant Books Relating to the Continental Portion of the United States, by Wright Howes, published 1962, (6.6 x 10.3"). This is the revised and enlarged edition of this informative bibliography of Americana. It is an essential reference work for anyone who collects books on Americana, with extensive listings of the editions of each book. We use this book frequently when cataloging! Published by the R.R. Bowker Company for the Newberry Library. Hardbound in brown cloth with gilt titles on spine. 652 pp. Condition: Contents are faintly toned with some manuscript notations in pencil. There is light shelf wear along the spine.

B. A Full Howes - A Catalogue of Books and Pamphlets Listed in Wright Howes' U.S.iana, by John H. Jenkins, published 1981, (8.5 x 11.0"). This sales catalogue from the Jenkins Company lists 3,000 works of Americana, all of which were featured in Wright Howes' indispensable reference. Jenkins was a larger-than-life historian, antiquarian bookseller, publisher, poker player, and Texan. He edited his great-great-grandfather's memoirs - published as Recollections of Early Texas in 1958 - while he was still in high school. In 1971, he assisted the FBI in tracking down a stolen portfolio of Audobon's original colored Birds of America engravings. Soft paper covers. Condition: Contents are very good with some slight creasing. Covers have minor shelf wear with sunning and a short tear along the spine. There is a tape stain on the back cover.
