"[American Revolution - Receipts to Hire Men for the Continental Army]",

This lot contains five manuscript documents signed by a committee for the town of Holden, Massachusetts to hire men for the Continental Army. Three of the documents are dated July 5, 1779 and two are dated June 26, 1780. Each is a promissory note to different creditors. The 1779 documents request 5 men each for a period of 9 months, while the 1780 documents request 10 men each with no duration noted.

Folded with minor soiling, staining, and several small fold separations with tiny loss of image. Two of the documents have been reinforced on verso with old tape, which has shown through on the recto of one document.
