A. Colton’s Map of the Territory of Alaska (Russian America) Ceded by Russia to the United States, by G.W. & C.B. Colton, dated 1867, printed color (25.8 x 16.1"). This is one of the earliest atlas maps to show Alaska as an United States possession, and was likely included in only a few editions of Colton's atlases. It covers a wide geographic area from Great Bear Lake in Northern Canada west through Alaska to the Siberian coastline. The most notable aspect of the map are the numerous red isothermal lines provided by Louis Blodgett. Includes inset maps of the northeastern United States and North America at left. Condition: A few minor spots, otherwise fine. (A)
