This uncommon atlas is complete with 46 maps, title page, table of contents, and one additional engraved plate of the mountains and rivers of the world. Included are maps of the eastern and western hemispheres, the World on Mercator's projection, the continents, numerous countries in Europe and Asia, regional maps of Africa and the Americas, and a map of the United States. The U.S. map depicts the eastern half of the country up to the states along the Mississippi River: Missouri, Arkansas, Louisiana, Illinois Territory, North West Territory, and the beginnings of a vast Western Territory. The map of Mexico & Guatimala with Texas covers the southern United States, Mexico and Central America and features an independent Republic of Texas in its largest configuration. According to Rumsey, this is likely the first edition of this map. Published by A.K. Newman & Co. of London and Orr & Sons & J. Morrison of Glasgow. Rebound in blue cloth with portions of the original green cloth pasted on the covers.

Condition: B

The maps range from good to very good with scattered foxing, staining, and minor soiling. There are numerous small edge chips along the right edge of the sheets, but only extend into the border of the Eastern Hemisphere map. There is a chip in the title page at lower left with some image loss that has been replaced with old paper, and 0.75" of bottom margin has been trimmed off. The table of contents has been trimmed on all sides and glued to the front pastedown. Rebound with portions of the original green cloth pasted on the covers.
