This propaganda map encourages French voters to vote against disarming their nation for fear that the country would be vulnerable to yet another invasion, citing the fact that France had been invaded 4 times in the previous century. This anti-Leftist sentiment is presented in a bold, fear mongering style with a black sea of German soldiers descending upon France, with several on horseback surrounding Paris. With the rise of Hitler and the Nazi party in Germany, the looming threat was not unfounded and the moderate Right in France was pushing for stronger territorial security and increased military funding. The Centre de Propagande des Republicains Nationaux (CPRN) enlisted the aid of French artist Andre Galland to create anti-socialist and anti-communist propaganda posters that could be used to sway public opinion. This poster was likely published just prior to the 1932 French legislative elections, however the CPRN's efforts were not successful in preventing the Cartel des Gauches from regaining power in the general election.
