This rare decorative map depicts the region north of the Amazon River, and includes Panama and the islands of the Lesser Antilles from Aruba to Barbados and the Grenadines. There is great detail of the river systems and mountains in the region, as well as numerous place names throughout. Notes on the local inhabitants and topography are scattered through the map, including one mentioning the mythical Lake Parime and fabled city of Manoa or El Dorado, neither of which are illustrated on the map. The map is embellished with a large, decorative title cartouche and a compass rose.
