Scarce, curious map of the Americas that was based on the cartography of Johann Schreiber. It shows a very late depiction of the mythical island of California, the Terra Esonis Incognita coastline stretching towards Asia, and an amorphous Great Lakes. The title cartouche includes the incongruent appearance of an elephant and a lion. At right is a panel of German text describing the regions and colonial possessions. Additional text describing America is at bottom.

References: McLaughlin #242.

Condition: A

There are minor damp stains that just enter the text at top right and bottom right and a tiny hole that is only visible when held up to light.
