This handsome map of the environs of the Black Sea in classical times is filled with ancient place names and titled also in Greek. It is based on Ortelius' map of the same title. Petrus Kaerius engraved the map and ornamented it with sailing ships and a decorative title cartouche. Latin text on verso, published in Volume 6 of Jansson's Atlas Novus, Georgius Hornius' Accuratissima Orbis Antiqui Delineatio, which included maps from Johannes Jansson's historical atlas and Abraham Ortelius' Parergon.

Condition: B

Original color on a sheet that has been backed with tissue to reinforce and repair several small cracks due to the oxidation of the green pigment. There is scattered foxing and offsetting.
