A. Catalina Island - California's Magic Isle, by Frank E. Brown, dated 1925, printed color (21.9 x 8.2"). This promotional brochure includes a topographical and pictorial map of Avalon and Avalon Bay. Points of interest include Hotel St. Catherine, Sugar Loaf Casino, the residence of William Wrigley Jr, and the Chicago Cubs Baseball training ground (the team held Spring training on the island for 30 years). Includes related text and illustrations on verso. Condition: Issued folding. (A)

B. Map of Southern California in the Vicinity of Los Angeles, by Handcraft Studios, dated 1929, black & white (8.9 x 6.0"). This little pictorial map is printed in blue ink and was issued in a 4 page letter promoting southern California. The map covers the region from Beverly Hills south to Laguna Beach and west to Big Bear and Palm Springs. Vignettes of local attractions surround the map. The first page of the letter is included on the verso of the map (see images). Condition: Light staining with some old glue residue on recto (likely from being pasted into a scrapbook). (B)

C. [Untitled - Los Angeles Railway Route Map], by Los Angeles Railway Corporation, dated 1940, black & white (9.5 x 10.9"). Drawn by W.R. Main, this map of Los Angeles is surrounded by 72 humorous illustrations that are numbered to the map. Points of interest include the Huntington Library, Griffith Park, Hollywood Bowl, and UCLA to name a few. The Los Angeles Officers Club and Biltmore Hotel fill the center of the compass rose. Condition: Issued folding with one tiny puncture hole at left. (B+)
