"Chart of the Coast of China and of the Sea Eastward from the River of Canton to the Southern Islands of Japan...", Burney, James

This chart details the coast of China from Canton (Guangzhou) to approximately Rizhao in southeastern Shandong province. Taiwan and parts of Japan and Korea are also shown. The waters are filled with depth soundings, rocks, and shoals. Burney was a Captain in the Royal Navy and accompanied Captain James Cook on his last two voyages.

Issued folding, now flattened on paper with an "1810" and "HS" watermarks. There is minor toning and offsetting along with light foxing. A binding trim at left has been professionally replaced with old paper to accommodate framing.
