A. Aero View of Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park (Looking East), by Rudolph J. Shutting, dated 1913 (22.0 x 11.9"). This scarce view of northern Georgia is taken from the west and looks out to Fort Oglethorpe and farmland to its south, which became Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park in 1890 and was the first national park of its type. An index at bottom locates monuments, markers, and other points of emphasis during this important Civil War battle. Stephenson lists only the 1974 reprint in the Library of Congress collection, and there are no sales records of this print in the last 40 years. Reference: cf. Stephenson (Civil War Maps) #159.5. Condition: Minor soiling with an edge tear at right that extends 1" into the image that has been closed on verso with archival tape. (B+)

B. Chickamauga Battlefield, by J.C. McElroy, dated 1895 (29.1 x 19.1"). This is an uncommon map of the bloody Civil War battle between the forces of the Army of the Cumberland (Union) and the Army of Tennessee (Confederate) at Chickamauga September 19-20, 1863. It illustrates the battlefield of Chickamauga and is filled with detail of buildings and landmarks, showing the locations of Union and Confederate troops during the battle. Legend uses color and line to differentiate the Federal and Confederate lines on the two days of action. It locates Lee & Gordon's Mill, numerous individual homes with owner's names, the location of Sheridan, Stewart's Division, and many more. Lithographed by the Henderson Lithographic Co. Reference: Stephenson (Civil War Maps) #155. Condition: A fine example on watermarked paper. (A+)
