These four maps show the extensive network of the Pacific Electric Railway in the early 20th century. The main rail line connected the cities of Los Angeles and San Bernardino, with spoke lines going to the coastal cities, the San Fernando Valley, and the Inland Empire. By 1925, the Pacific Railway was the largest in the world, consisting of streetcars, light rail and buses.

A. Lines of the Pacific Electric Railway and Motor Transit Company in Southern California, by Gerald A. Eddy, dated 1935 (21.0 x 14.8"). This map features railway lines in red, the road network in blue, and topography presented with a three-dimensional quality. Includes a small inset illustration of Mt. Lowe Tavern at top. Related text and advertisements on verso. Condition: (A)

B. Lines of the Pacific Electric Railway in Southern California, by D.W. Pontius, dated 1912 (16.0 x 10.7"). Includes advertising insets and folds into pictorial paper wrappers. Condition: Light staining at top and a few minor abrasions. (B+)

C. Lines of the Pacific Electric Railway in Southern California, by Pacific Electric Railway, circa 1910 (14.7 x 8.5"). This 30-panel brochure features a colorful centerfold map with a key showing the Balloon Route, Old Mission, Triangle, and Mount Lowe trips. Includes numerous illustrations throughout with a beach scene on the front wrapper. Condition: (A)

D. Pacific Electric Railway - Sight-Seeing Trolley Trips - The Way to See Southern California, by Pacific Electric Railway, dated 1912 (6.5 x 7.4"). This six-panel brochure includes a map at center showing the Balloon Route, Old Mission, and Triangle trips in orange overprinting. The map is augmented by related text, illustrations, and advertisements. Folds into pictorial paper wrappers. Condition: (A)
