This scarce map was published "for the information of foreigners seeking a home in the United States." Catering to its intended European audience, the map contains titles in English, French, German, and Swedish positioned near the corners. The emphasis on the map is the railroad network, with completed, in progress, and planned railroads noted. The 16 pages of text contains general information about the U.S. government, political divisions, mineral resources, the public land system, naturalization, and more. The map folds into the original tan printed wrappers (6 x 9").
