This extraordinary facsimile atlas is a faithful copy of Ortelius's epochal work, the first modern atlas. It includes 52 of the 53 maps in the first edition, in old-style color with Latin text on the versos. Map 15 (Geldria) is missing and Map 13 (Germania) is bound in twice. This is apparently a common binding issue with this edition. All of the double-page maps are tipped in and pasted to binding strips. Hardbound in red cloth boards with red leather spine, gilt titles on spine and covers.
