This map covers the eastern Mediterranean from Italy eastward into Phoenicia. The map depicts the adventures of Aenaeas' fleet of twenty ships as he roamed the seas for seven years following the destruction of Rome (as most extensively described in the writings of Virgilius). In the end, only seven ships survived, as shown on the lower right portion of the map. The map is adorned with a decorative strapwork cartouche. Latin text and colophon on verso with the imprint of Adrianus Bottius of Dordrecht.
