This attractive map of South America is based upon Sanson's map of the region. The relatively unknown Amazon region is left without speculation. However, the mythical Lag. Di Parime, with Manoa Dorado (city of gold) on its western shore, appears in Guyana. The various captaincy settlements in Brazil are named and there is considerable detail of towns and cities. The decorative title cartouche is engraved on a blanket held up by two Indians. This is the first state, engraved by Giorgio Widman.

Condition: B+

Original outline color in the map with later color in the cartouche on paper with a round medallion watermark. There are a few minor stains in the image and margins.
