This map depicts the route of the Western Railroad from Worcester to Springfield with limited topographical detail along the line. It was issued with one other map in Reports of the Engineers of the Western Rail Road Corporation. The Western Railroad was chartered in 1833 to connect to the Hudson & Berkshire Railroad at the New York state line. Construction commenced in 1837 with this eastern section opening in 1839 (the western section would open in 1841). The Western Railroad is now the Boston & Albany Railroad.

Issued folding and now flattened and backed with tissue. There is an old tape stain adjacent to the title and a few minor spots of foxing.
