This striking map of the Persian Empire includes present-day Iran, Iraq, Armenia, Georgia, Afghanistan, and part of Pakistan. Two large pictorial cartouches graphically depict the cultural attainments of the empire. The map is filled with detail of towns, mountains, forests, caravan routes, and a quaint village scene is pictured in the Turkistan region.

Condition: B+

On a watermarked sheet with original color in the map and later color in the decorative elements. There is a large, but faint, dampstain in the middle of the top half of the image and a printer's crease in the bottom left corner of the image. At extraneous ink notation in the left blank margin extends 4" into the image, but does not distract.
