"Map of the Kingdom of Denmark Including the Dutchies of Holstein & Lauenburg", Wyld, James
Period: 1823 (dated)
Color: Hand Color
20.6 x 28.3 inches
52.3 x 71.9 cm
A handsome and beautifully engraved copper plate map of Denmark along with parts of Sweden at top right. It depicts common roads, royal post roads, and post vessel routes. A note at bottom states that "The Duchy of Lauenburg was annexed to the Kingdom of Denmark by treaty with the King of Prussia, signed June 4th, 1815." Wyld assumed management of Faden's establishment in 1823 so this is an early reissue.
Original color with light offsetting. There are two centerfold separations confined to the blank margins that have been closed on verso with archival material.
