This very handsome double-page sheet has three small maps covering the Isthmus of Darien and the Gulf of Panama. The maps are flanked on two sides by explanatory text in French. This example is illustrated with seven panels of finely engraved examples of the region's flora and fauna, including fish, birds, and plant life. The larger of the three maps, Carte de L'Isthme de Darien et du Golfe de Panama, shows the route of the author and includes a compass rose.

A dark impression on a clean, bright sheet with a Strasbourg Lily watermark and minor toning along the edges of the sheet.
