This uncommon map of the territory was issued shortly before Washington became a state. Development is primarily along the coastline and the southeastern portion of the territory, where several railroads are identified. The center of the territory is occupied by the large Stevens, Douglas, Kittitass, Yakima, and Klickitat counties. A note in Stevens County indicates lands "Reserved for Chief Moses and his people." Wangersheim published county atlases and usually included some state maps for its readers. This map is very similar to Page's map of the territory that was published in 1883.
