This geography book consists of two parts: the first focuses on the "General View of the Terraqueous Globe" and the second focused on the "Particular View of the Terraqueous Globe," with copper-engraved plates by John Senex. Complete, there are 17 maps including 12 of Europe and one each of the world, Asia, Africa, North America and South America. Both the world map and the North America map feature California as an Island and a huge blank area in Northwestern North America. 12mo, 416 pages. Hardbound in original full calf with raised bands on spine.
The maps are generally good with light toning, foxing, and offsetting. The world map has a dampstain in the image and is trimmed to inside the left border with minor loss of image. Text is good to very good with toning and foxing that is more prominent in the last 100 pages of the volume. A previous owner's bookplate is present on the front pastedown. The spine and hinges are cracked and the edges of the covers are bumped.
