This is Volume VII of the Italian edition of Guthie's Geography covering North America. There are individual chapters on each of the U.S. states and territories, including Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, Massachusetts, Rhode island, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Ohio, Maryland, Virginia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Tennessee. There are also chapters on Spanish claims, such as Florida, California, and Mexico. This volume includes two maps:

A. Gli Stati Uniti Dell' America (9 x 13.2"). This depicts the United States extending to the Mississippi River, just prior to the Louisiana purchase. The states are delineated, although in a rudimentary fashion, particularly in regards to Pennsylvania, Virginia and Kentucky. Cities, forts, rivers, and a number of Indian tribes are labeled throughout the map. Condition: A dark impression with light offsetting and a small stain in the Gulf of Mexico. (B+)

B. America Settentrionale (13.2 x 9.2"). This map of North America shows the United States confined to east of the Mississippi River and north of Florida, noting major rivers, some states, and a few cities. The map extends west to Hawaii and east to the Azores Islands. Condition: A dark impression with light printer's ink residue. (A)

Small Quarto, 263 pp., 2 maps. Hardbound in quarter red leather with tan leather tips over marbled paper covered boards; black leather title label with gilt tooling on spine.

The maps are issued folding with original outline color. See description above for additional details. The text is in very good condition with light scattered foxing. The front and back free-endpapers are moderately toned. The binding is sound and the covers are lightly worn.
