Both of these maps of Italy were engraved by the brothers Ambrose and Ferdinand Arsenius who had been assistants to Frans Hogenburg and co-engravers of Ortelius' folio Theatrum.

A. Florentinum Dominium, from Epitome Theatri Orteliani, published 1601 (4.2 x 3.1"). Delightful little map of the area surrounding Florence, shown pictorially in the center of the map, extending west to the Ligurian Sea. Published by Jan B. Vrients. Latin text on verso.

B. Siena, from Ausszug auss des Abrahami Ortely..., published 1604 (4.9 x 3.3"). This tiny map depicts the region of Tuscany, with north oriented to the left, extending from Siena to Orbetello. The extensive river system is shown along with many towns. Published by Levinus Hulsius. German text on verso.

Crisp impressions with marginal soiling. There is a printer's crease at left on the map of Florence.
