The Dutch Hedendaagsche Historie was originally based on Thomas Salmon's Modern History. The Dutch work began in 1729 and was not completed until 1803, comprising 43 volumes. The present work, volume 15, is dedicated to the Netherlands and includes 14 city plans, all folding, including attractive renderings of Amsterdam, Rotterdam, and Gouda to name a few. The plan of Amsterdam measures approximately 10.7 x 7" while the remaining plans measure approximately 8.3 x 6.7". Also included in the volume is a folding view of part of Amsterdam and an allegorical frontispiece. Published by Hugo Grotius in Amsterdam. 531 pages, octavo, contemporary vellum with manuscript title on spine.

Condition: A

Maps, plates, and text are clean and bright with just a bit of toning along the sheet edges. There is a previous owner's bookplate on the front pastedown and a few minor notations on the front free endpaper. Covers have light soiling and staining, and the edges are bumped.
