A terrific and early pocket map produced by Colton. This first edition map is printed on thick paper that folds into original blind-stamped brown cloth covers with gilt title "Map of Vermont J.H. Colton." The map is beautifully colored and embellished with a wide and bold border. Good detail throughout locates railroads, wagon roads, canals, villages and towns and shows 14 counties. Cover has original advertising paper label inside listing other maps for sale. Of special interest is the advance notice of the Atlas of the World here listed as a Work in progress.
