This very desirable 12" desk globe is constructed from 12 lithographic gores and is supported by a cast iron half-meridian and circular wooden base. It is unlike other Cram globes we have seen with a very distinct and attractive metallic coloring of the oceans. The globe is undated, but geography suggest a circa 1938 date. The geography shows the Versailles Treaty boundaries indicating it was made prior to World War II. This example shows Chosen (Korea), French Indo China, Siam and the British Empire uniformly colored in pink. Filled with ocean routes and their mileage. The Sargasso Sea is prominently displayed in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, and an analemma is located in the Pacific Ocean. The simple, oval title cartouche is located in the North Pacific Ocean, adjacent to the International Date Line. Complete with hour ring at the north pole.
