This is a handsome facsimile of Lienhart Holle's edition of Ptolemy's Cosmographia, originally published in Ulm in 1482, with cartography by Nicolaus Germanus. In addition to the 27 original Ptolemaic maps, Germanus amended 5 modern maps showing France, Italy, Palestine, Spain, and the Northern Countries, including Greenland. These 32 double-page maps are reproduced here in black and white. It includes an in-depth bibliographical note by R.A. Skelton. Part of the Theatrum Orbis Terrarum Series of Atlases in Facsimile First Series - Volume I. Hardbound in grey cloth with gilt insignia on the cover and title on spine and a dust jacket. 280 pp.

Condition: B+

Contents very good with minor soiling on the endpapers and the pages near the end of the book are slightly rippled. Covers good with light shelf wear and some light spots/stains. The dust jacket has a number of chips and tears, some of which have been closed with cello tape.
