This attractive map focuses on the region between the Black and Caspian Seas. There is great detail of the mountains, cities and villages. Colchis is the legendary kingdom in the Greek myth wherein Jason and the Argonauts stole the Golden Fleece from King Aeetes. The decorative title cartouche is draped in a sheepskin and flanked by two hunting dogs.
A superb, dark impression with wide margins on a clean, bright sheet. There are light damp stains along the edges of the sheet, well away from the image.
