This very rare engraving depicts a battle between the Ottoman Empire and a Kurdish clan led by Canboladoglu Ali in 1607. Ali's uncle, Huseyin, had been appointed governor of Aleppo in 1604 by Sultan Ahmed I in gratitude for protecting the city against Damascene janissaries. In 1605, however, Huseyin was executed on treason charges, causing Ali to start a rebellion. The Ottoman Empire succeeded in crushing the rebellion in 1607, restoring order to the region. This engraving was published in Theodor Meurer's Warhafftige Beschreibunge aller Furnemen und Gedenckwurdigen Historien.
