This very rare and striking panoramic view of the city of Bordeaux is viewed from the east with the Garonne River in the foreground. The famous Roman amphitheater, Le Palais Galien, is shown at far right, and several other important buildings in the city are labeled. The Garonne River is filled with large galleons and numerous small vessels, with a ship under construction on the bank of the river at left. Printed on two sheets, joined. Most of the views in Boisseau's Theatre des Citez, our Recueil de Plusieurs Villes... were engraved by H. Picart, although there is no engraver's imprint on this view.

References: Pastoureau, BOISSEAU I [16].
