This star chart depicts the stars in the southern sky, centered on the south equatorial pole. The constellations include Argo Navis, Centaur, Lupus, Apus (bird of paradise), Apis (bee), Indus (Native Indian), and Pavo (peacock). The magnitude of the stars is identified in a chart at left. Engraved by Arnold van Westerhout.
A dark impression on watermarked paper with light soiling. The margins were trimmed (or chipped) all around the sheet, and have been professionally extended to accommodate framing, with minor loss of image at the sides, and a small amount of the neatline at bottom replaced in facsimile.
