This is Volume 25 of the Italian edition of La Harpe's Histoire Generale des Voyages, which itself was an abridgement of Antoine Francois Prevost's history of voyages. La Harpe edited Prevost's work, eliminating unnecessary and uninteresting passages, and updated it with information on new voyages that had been completed since the prior publication. The current example includes 6 folding Bellin maps of the eastern United States and Canada, all with Italian titles and many Italian place names, including:

Carta della Nuova Inghilterra Nuova Iorc, e Pensilvania (11.5 x 7.8").

Carta della Virginia della Baja Chesapeack... (11.0 x 7.2").

Carta della Carolina e Giorgia (10.7 x 7.1").

Carta dell' Acadia Isola Reale... (12.8 x 8.1").

Carta della Baja di Hudson (11.8 x 8.5").

Carta del Golfo di S. Lorenzo (13.9 x 8.6").

280 pages with deckle edges. Paperback with decorative, patterned covers.

Condition: B+

The maps are in very good to near fine condition with an occasional spot of foxing or faint toning. The map of the Gulf of St. Lawrence has a 1.25" binding tear at right that has been closed on verso with archival tape. Text is very good with occasional light toning, and the sheets have deckle edges. The first few pages of text, including the title page, have a light damp stain at bottom. The soft, patterned paper covers have light wear, minor soiling, and a few chips at the tail of the spine.
