Charming little map of Malta depicting a shipwreck off its northwestern coast. The map was engraved by the brothers Ambrose and Ferdinand Arsenius who had been assistants to Frans Hogenburg and co-engravers of Ortelius' folio Theatrum. This series of maps was accompanied by text by Michel Coignet and was published in Antwerp by Jan van Keerbergen. Latin text on verso. This example erroneously has the title Corsica printed above the map.

A crisp impression on a clean, bright sheet with a professionally repaired chip at top right, just outside of the map image.
