This is the first state of this handsome map of the province of Brescia in northern Italy, based on Christoforo Sorte's map of the region. Oriented with north to the left, the map depicts Lake Garda and Lake Iseo, numerous small towns, and the extensive river system in the region. Three strapwork cartouches decorate the map. Latin text on verso, published in 1592.

Condition: B+

Attractive old color on paper with Ortelius' common crossed arrows watermark. There is light toning, some printer's ink residue, and a professionally repaired centerfold separation at bottom.
