This handsome map is based upon Delisle's earlier edition and focuses on the Byzantine Empire as it was during the reign of Emperor Constantine VII Porphyrogennetos. It covers present-day Balkans and Turkey and extends to include portions of Italy, Ukraine, and Russia. Provinces, towns and cities, rivers, and some topographical detail are shown. The Black Sea prominently appears.


Condition: B

On watermarked paper with extraneous creasing adjacent to the centerfold at left and right and faint color offsetting. Light damp stains and a small chip are confined to the blank margins.
