This beautiful panoramic view measures over 16 feet long and depicts the urban borough of Altona in the city-state of Hamburg. The engraving shows a bustling scene of life along the Elbe River, with numerous boats and ships of various sizes and designs in the forefront. Overall good condition with light uniform toning, a few spots of foxing, and a 3" tear that has been closed on verso with archival tape. Covers have light damp stains and the hinges are loose.
