This handsomely engraved map illustrates the area surrounding Paris, which is depicted by a bird's-eye plan. Hundreds of towns are identified, along with churches, abbeys, and wind and water mills. Versailles with its gardens is shown walled off from the rest of the countryside. Several other important parks and forests around Paris are noted, including the Bois de Vincennes and the Bois de Boulogne. A drape-style cartouche at top right contains the distance scale, publisher's imprint, and a note that the map includes more than 700 locations more than the previous edition of the map.
