Charming miniature map showing the island and the important port of Angra. Decorated with strapwork title and scale cartouches, a sailing ship and two tiny sea monsters. The map was engraved by the brothers Ambrose and Ferdinand Arsenius who had been assistants to Frans Hogenburg and co-engravers of Ortelius' folio Theatrum. This series of maps was accompanied by text by Michel Coignet and was published by Jan van Keerbergen. Latin text on verso.

A nice example with a professionally repaired chip at top right, just outside of image, a tiny chip at bottom left, and a minor damp stain at top left.
