This terrific reference book by Richard J.A. Talbert examines the Peutinger Map and its vast influence. Talbert argues that the map was not just an achievement in mapmaking, but also an expression and celebration of the ideology of the Roman Empire. The book contains a number of black and white illustrations. Hardbound in green faux-leather with an illustrated dust jacket. 357 pp.
