This lot consists of two unused Civil War era envelopes. The first depicts the entire United States with a large Union emblem covering the Pacific Northwest. It features many large and evolving territories in the west including an oversized Dakota encompassing all of Montana, an elongated Nebraska, and Arizona in its "confederate" configuration occupying the southern portion of New Mexico Territory. The second envelope shows the eastern half of the United States with the portrait of Union General McClellan being supported by Union soldiers. A nice pair of envelope maps which would be difficult to replace.
