This handsome map spans the South Pacific Ocean. It depicts Indochina, the Malay Archiepelago, Australia, New Zealand, Hawaii and other Polynesian islands, and, at top right, a portion of Baja California. There is little to no inland detail, but place names line the coasts. There are two insets in the bottom corners, showing Australia's southeastern portion (left) and southern tip (right) with considerable inland detail. A table in Indochina identifies the different island groups and explains the abbreviations. Another large table at right lists the alternative names for the locations covered.
