This Italian map is based on Ortelius' map of the continent, with the exception of the addition of a strait dividing the southern portion of the Malay Peninsula. Girolamo Porro originally engraved this map for Magini's edition of Ptolemy's Geography, which was first published in 1597. On a full sheet of Italian text measuring 8.4 x 12.1".
