This matched pair of small maps spans northern Germany. The first covers the northwest part of Germany from the Danish border south to Thuringia and from Osnabruck east to Berlin. The second focuses on the southern part of Saxony as far south as Bohemia. Both sheets are fully engraved with mountains, rivers, forests, cities, and fortifications. Each includes a lovely title cartouche surrounded by allegorical figures (such as Diana the huntress on the first sheet) and animals. Tobias Conrad Lotter engraved both maps. Size varies slightly.

References: Shirley (BL Atlases) T.SEU-3a #46 & #50.

Condition: B+

Both were apparently issued folding, now flattened, with minor soiling and a few tiny holes at fold intersections that have been closed with archival materials on the second sheet. Both sheets have narrow margins, although the second sheet has had the margins extended with old paper.

Estimate: $240 - $300
