A. The Italians and the Creation of America - An Exhibition at the John Carter Brown Library Brown University, by Samuel J. Hough, published 1980 (9.0 x 11.8"). This is an exhibition catalog compiled by Samuel J. Hough. The exhibition traces the rebirth of the science of geography in the Renaissance; the voyages of the great Italian explorers; and the role of the Italian cartographers and printers. Drawing on the superb resources of the John Carter Brown Library, the show includes books, prints, maps, and other ephemera. 83 pp., 2 color plates and 29 monochrome illustrations. Paperback. Condition: Contents fine with minor toning along the spine.

B. Atlas of Columbus and the Great Discoveries, by Kenneth Nebenzahl, published 1990 (11.4 x 14.8"). This wonderful reference illustrates a selection of the most significant materials of the period, beginning with the world as known to Europeans before Columbus' first voyage. More than 100 color illustrations depict maps by Ptolemy, Pizzagano, Martellus, Waldseemuller, Mercator, Hondius, and others. 168 pp., with index & bibliography. Published by Rand McNally. Hardbound in blue cloth with title in gilt and illustrated dust jacket. Condition: Minor wear and toning on the dust jacket, otherwise fine.

C. Mapping the World, by Michael Swift, published 2006 (16.9 x 12.0"). This colorful reference on the history of map-making is filled with around 200 maps from the ancient beginnings of cartography to the end of 19th century. 256 pp., hardbound with illustrated covers and a dust jacket. Condition: Contents and covers fine. The dust jacket has some minor wear.
