A. Castille Neuve ou Castille d'Or, by Alain Manesson Mallet, from Beschreibung des Gantzen Welt-Kreisses, circa 1685, hand color (4.2 x 5.9"). Charming miniature map of northern South America with a few place names identified along the coast. The map extends north to include Cuba, Jamaica, Hispaniola and Puerto Rico, and south to the Amazon River. Reference: Pastoureau, MANESSON-MALLET I B. Condition: A crisp impression with attractive color and remnants of hinge tape on verso. There are some adhesive stains along the edges of the sheet at right and bottom, far from image. (A)

B. Terre Ferme, Nouveau Royme de Grenade, &c., by Sanson/Mariette, from Description de Tout l'Univers, circa 1675, hand color (11.6 x 7.5"). Very attractive small map of the northern part of South America, including most of modern Panama. Regional boundaries are shown along with missions, towns, major rivers and mountains. The map is adorned with a nice title cartouche. Reference: Pastoureau, SANSON II C. Condition: Original color with light toning along the centerfold and in the blank margins. (B+)

C. Carte des Provinces de Tierra Firme, Darien, Cartagene et Nouvelle Grenade pour Servir a l'Histoire Generale des Voyages, by Jacques Nicolas Bellin, from Prevost's Histoire Generale des Voyages, dated 1756, black & white (10.4 x 8.1"). This map of Columbia and the Isthmus of Panama is meticulously engraved with good detail of towns and topography. The map extends to include Lake Maracaibo in Venezuela. It is based on the cartography of D'Anville and is decorated with a baroque cartouche. Condition: Issued folding with a few faint spots of foxing, and a minute hole only visible when held to light. The right margin has been extended with old paper to accommodate framing. (B+)
