This uncommon Italian map leaves the northwestern portion of North America largely blank with the exception of a few connected rivers and lakes, suggesting a possible Northwest Passage. The United States is confined to east of the Appalachian Mountains, and several spurious mountain ranges are depicted in the upper Midwest. Alaska is still misshapen but coming into form based in part on the discoveries of Captain Cook. In South America, the mythical Lake Parime and Lake Xarayes are depicted.
